When transplanting moss if some of the tree bark is taken with it, will this hurt the tree?

I am developing a moss bed in a shaded moist area on the side of my house.

Don’t take the bark off when you are removing the moss, it can open the tree’s growing layer to a pathogen infection and wood decay.
