when to plant a lemon tree outside

I have 2 lemon trees in pots (outside). I have had them for about 1 year. They are full of fruit at this time. When would it be best to plant them i nthe ground?

It is possible to transplant lemon trees at any time of year, but the best time is late winter or early spring. Here is more information:
