Q.When To Plant?

Zone DA13 0JE | peter@brookerlimited.com added on August 22, 2022 | Answered

I have bought some ‘Garden Ready’ plants from a well-known on-line retailer. Delphinium Magic Fountains Mix 15 Garden Ready Plants Delphinium M Fountain Blue White Bee 15 Garden Ready Plants Dicentra Collection 3 Jumbo Plugs Echinacea Primadonna Mixed (PowWow) 15 Garden Ready Plants The plants arrived about one month but I was not ready to plant them and have potted them on – see attached. I will have room in my garden this autumn but would it be better to wait and plant these next spring? If waiting is the best option, can I keep them unprotected outside? I don’t have a greenhouse but could store the plants in my conservatory if necessary. Keeping them in the conservatory is not idea, as its gets rather cluttered in Winter. Regards Pete

I believe this is a good time of year to plant new perennials, now that the hottest part of summer has passed. It may do your herbaceous perennials some good to vernalize over winter.
