When to Handle My Wisteria

I live in Massachusetts and have just enjoyed watching my wisteria bloom for the first time. I do have a problem though. It is presently growing on a cherry tree that I had and the tree has rotted. I have to cut the tree down, at least to about three feet. I plan on putting two metal trellises on both sides of the tree, and I don’t think I will have a problem untwining the wisteria and placing it on the trellis. I would like to know when the proper season would be for doing this. It just stopped blooming and the blossoms are fading and dropping to the ground.

Wisteria are pretty hardy, so they can be handled pretty much any time of the year. The only thing people normally worry about is bloom loss and if they are finished blooming, you do not need to worry about that.
