when should kumquats be harvested

My kumquat tree had a lot of fruit; it still has fruit lingering on it plus now green ones are showing up. Should I remove the fruit that is probably over ripe?

Yes, never leave over ripe fruit on a fruit tree. This invites insects and disease.
