When Propagating A Snake Plant Cutting In Water, Do You Have To Let The Cutting Callous Over Before Placing It In Water?

I haven’t had much luck with propagating snake plants in water. I have a leaf I had to cut off and very much want to propagate it. I read a few article(including yours) but am unsure about if I should let the end callous over before placing the cutting in water. I’ve read both, to let it callous and to cut and instantly place in water. Any tips on how to propagate it successfully would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much for your time!!! –Cassandra–

You could skip the water and go right to stem cuttings in soil. Those you would let the end callus before placing it in a container of cactus or succulent soil. Sometimes plants have trouble adjusting from water to soil cultivation.

If you really want to try water, you don't need to let the end callus.
