Planting Tulip Bulbs

When planting tulip bulbs, is there something I can add to the soil to prevent rodents from digging up and eating them?

To prevent them digging the bulbs up, try making simple cages for the bulbs out of chicken wire. Simply place the wire over top of the planting hole, covering with soil and mulch, if desired. The holes in the wire allow the plants to grow, but keeps the rodents from getting to the bulbs.
