Q.When May I Safely Remove the Female Flower From My Sago

Zone Houston Zone 8??? | Stolie74 added on July 1, 2013 | Answered

My male and female sagos do not flower at the same time, so I am unable to pollinate. When can I safely remove the female flower? Will my sago ever look the same or should I remove all the leaves and the flower?

Don't cut the leaves! Sago palms need very little pruning. This link explains Sago palm trimming/pruning: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/sago-palm/prune-sago-palm.htm

This link tells you not to cut the blooms: http://www.garden.org/searchqa/index.php?q=show&id=77186&ps=333&keyword=poisonous%20plants&adv=0
