When Growing Pumpkins From Seed, How Long Should It Take to Bud

We planted orange and purple pumpkins the first weekend in May and still have not seen anything. They have been well watered, given the strong rainfall in Minnesota this spring. We are wondering if we need to plant new seeds to get pumpkins by Halloween.

You still have time. They need a bit to mature. If you are not seeing blooms yet, you may want to add some bone meal to help with blooming. Does the plant look healthy with good growth? As long as the plant looks healthy so far, you should be fine.

As for planting new seeds, regardless of the condition of your current plants, it is too late for that. They will not be able to mature before the end of the season. You are best focusing on the current plants.
