Q.When Does Plastic Bag Come Off For Good?

Zone 90034 | Anonymous added on April 17, 2025 | Answered

I found some seeds growing randomly in my soil bag. I pulled them out, planted them and if I didn’t keep a plastic bag over them, they looked about to die. I put bag back on, watered and they’re back. How long does a bag need to remain on without them keeling over and demanding a bag cover them again (ha ha). No clue what they are…probably came from some bird seed I had in area.

Usually the bag is only needed till the roots form and new growth starts. It may be something that needs high humidity. When you remove the plastic again, keep the soil moist but not saturated and in a part sun situation. See if that helps.
