Q.When can potato fruits be harvested for seeds

Zone Kodiak Alaska Zone 5 (I think) | Anonymous added on August 13, 2020 | Answered

I have 3 or 4 fruits on potato plants and would like to save the seeds and plant them next year. I live on Kodiak Island Alaska and grow potatoes in raised beds.

According to this extension article, it would take years for a potato grown from seed to be ready for harvest, plus it would not be like the parent plant. They don't recommend it. Only growers and breeders do it. (There is a photo that shows a ripe fruit.)
