Q.What’s Wrong With My Tree?

Zone DH8 Consett County Durham | Redpath7 added on June 30, 2024 | Answered

Not sure what’s wrong with this tree. It looks like some type of fungal problem. It usually has loads of red flowers in Spring. This year there weren’t any. Not sure what type of tree it is.

This is definitely an infection, and it looks to be a flowering crab apple.. It could be Phytopthora (collar rot) or similar. Many diseases like this do not have a cure, but will require constant maintenance to survive. This will include regular fungicide use and keeping all dead debris away from the tree.
