Q.What’s Wrong With My Anthurium? (Over/under Watered?)

Zone Frankston | Anonymous added on May 14, 2025 | Answered

Hello! The leaves of our potted indoor Anthurium andraeanum have started get this brown/silvery patches on them that look a bit like it’s browning off and dying. Some new shoots from the centre of the plant shrivel up and die and there’s even some tiny black balls (like dirt or sand) building up on some of the leaves that I can wipe off with my finger. Any information or help would be amazing! Many thanks

It looks like a pest problem. Anthuriums are bothered by aphids, scale, and spider mites. It likely is aphids, but treating the plant with Neem oil should take care of all three.
