Q.what’s eating my peppers?

Anonymous added on June 19, 2015 | Answered

It wasn’t there before, but today 2 of my green bell peppers had a hole in the side. It looks like I cut 1 x 2″ holes with a knife. There is no jagged edge. Some of the leaves on top were eaten down to the stem. The only bug I saw yesterday was gray; it looked like a Stealth bomber, as strange as that sounds. Would it help for me to put hosiery over the peppers themselves?

This kind of damage is caused by a critter. Possibly deer (the square would be where they tried to bite the pepper but could not get a good grip on it), but it may also have been raccoons or groundhogs.
