Q.What’s Attacking My Magnolia?
We have this magnolia in the container we bought it in since we rent and can’t plant it. Had it for a year now and it seems to be thriving after our three months of abnormally heavy rains on the CA coast. In the last couple of weeks I’ve found evidence of something attacking the leaves. I’ve searched and can’t find any insects to attribute this to. Any ideas what this is? Would really like to stop this (preferably without the use of chemicals) before it’s too late.

I can't attribute this to any, specific, insect. I can suggest neem oil as a good, all-purpose, insect repellent. This will help to keep away insects in the future.

A fungicide will be necessary, as well.
