Q.What Zone Is The Western Side Of Florida?
I just moved from Tampa to about an hour north & was told to only plant plants that do not need much watering because we go through a drought here during Summer. I know Succulents, Bromeliads & anything in the Cactus family do well here, any other suggestions? Also ate thete any type of roses that do well here? Every house I everowned had a Butterfly Garden for my youngest & a Rose Garden for my other daughter. Im good on suggestions for Butterflys but I wanted to plant Knockout or Double Knockouts & my lawn guy said they wont grow here because of the heat. In Va we had at least 1 bush on every side of the house so I always had fresh roses to cut & put in every room of the house & I loved them cuz they even bloomed in the snow! Also what Zone is the mid-west coast of Florida in? Thank you!

You are in zone 9b. Here are some shrubs that should work. In notice Knock Out roses and butterfly bushes are both on the list. You might try planting them in part sun instead of full sun to combat some of the heat and drought.
