What/when is the best way & time to prune Hydrangeas

Question

I forgot to prune our large hydrangea bushes in front of our home. So I plan on doing it right this year, and not butcher the poor bushes. We also have a new hydrangea that starts out white and turns to pink. It isn’t mature like these other typical hydrangeas, so would like advice on how to prune it too.
