Type of Metal Best for Barrier to Stop Bamboo

We have a bad bamboo issue and need to add some type of barrier to it before it gets to our pool. It also needs to be 6 inches above ground. Or is there an herbicide to kill bamboo?

A thick plastic barrier would be best as it does not corrode like metal would in the ground. This company has instructions for the type of barrier you are looking for:
