Q.What Type Of Fungus Is This And How Do I Deal With It?
What is the sweet sugar smelling fungus. This has started on my variegated peperomia obtusifolia about 4 months ago. It smells soooo strong, like brown sugar or maple syrup. What the heck is it? None of my other plants have it and I can’t find any information on Google about bacteria or fungus that smells sweet!!!!! Thank you for any advice 🙂

It likely is honeydew, excreted from aphids or scale, that is on your plant. Molds, such as sooty mold, then easily grow in the honeydew. I can't find any sources that say honeydew has a scent, but it is a sweet, sugary substance. Mealybugs, which look cottony, are a common pest of pepperomia, and they produce honeydew.
