Q.What Type Of Flower Is This?

Zone Bristol | Anonymous added on June 13, 2021 | Answered

We rescued this plant from someone who was throwing it away. Last year it had 2 small flowers and survived the winter as we wrapped the base In a towel. This year we have 2 enormous flowers and 2 more buds coming through. It’s a bulb and has a thick stem and slightly rubbery leaves. I think it might be some sort of Lily but at the moment we call it a triffid as it’s so magnificent!

It looks like an Amaryllis like those that are forced at Christmas. They can be planted in the garden if it doesn't get too cold and they will bloom in spring. They will multiply each year as well.
