what type of fertilizer should be used for purple leaf sand cherry

My sandcherry shrub lost all of its leaves in July 2014. Am I going to lose the entire tree? What can I do now to save the purple plum sandcherry tree?

You didn’t say how long you have had this tree, but it’s not unheard of for the sandcherry to lose all it’s leaves in July; sometimes it gets them back and even flowers again before winter. Whether this behavior is confined to young trees or not is unclear. Another thing about plum leaf sandcherry is that they are not long lived specimens, usually dying after 10-15 years. They also seem to be attacked by a number of diseases. They are actually a hybrid plant from two different species of Prunus, and hybrids formed from different species are often not very robust.
