Q.What Tree Should We Plant

Zone 93446 | Anonymous added on February 7, 2022 | Answered

Recently we had to remove our 2 willow trees due to disease. We want to plant 2 – 3 new trees. We have a large area, want shade trees. They will be planted on a lawn. We live in zone 8, they will be in full sun. We also have a walkway leading to the house, and don’t want a tree that the roots would disturb the walkway. We would like a fast growing tree as well. We have been considering a Red Maple, but am concerned about the root system. Please share any advice or input you may have. Thank you

Here are some ideas in the links below. Trees to avoid because of the roots would be the weeping willow, which really is not suited for any city yard, and red maple, if your yard is small. The tulip tree also is too large for most city landscapes.
