What care to do with silver mounds in the fall (upstate NY)?

You normally trim back the plant around the middle of summer to get rid of spent blooms and improve its appearance. This plant doesn’t require any special care over winter as it will die back and regrow in spring. If it looks ragged, however, you can trim it back some in fall.
