Q.What to Do With Fig Trees in Spoon Drains

Anonymous added on March 12, 2014 | Answered

We have a problem with a Moreton Bay Fig, which is growing in a spoon drain. How can we allow the water flow in the drain without damaging the roots or removing the tree?

A Moreton Bay fig grows to be a huge tree. If it's still small and close to the drain, you'll probably want to remove the tree before it totally crushes the drain. If it's already a big tree, and some of the roots are growing into the drain, you can just cut them out, it won't hurt the tree.
