Q.What To Do Next With Canna Lily Bulbs Overwintered In Basement

Zone R0G 0N0 | Anonymous added on May 19, 2024 | Answered

I followed all instructions I found last fall, in hopes of being able to use my canna lily bulbs this spring. I don’t know if I should help them adjust to the temperature change or fertilize and how deep to plant in my big pots. I am hoping they will grow, bloom & look nice on one of our decks (1 is north facing; other is southeast facing).

It is just like starting with a new, purchased rhizome. Bring them out of storage and plant them according to this article:

You don't need to add the layer of pebbles in the bottom of the container. It won't help drainage.
