what to do in spring with last years flower.

Our Red pagoda was brought to us from central Florida to our home in Dallas, TX area. We had the plant for 1 blooming season, and I am not sure how old it is. It had (has) two beautiful full flowers. It is a little over 5 feet tall, and has sprung a baby in the pot (a
about 15″ round). It gets full morning sun till about 2:00 PM.
Question; What do we do with last years flowers. They are still on the stalk. Do I cut them off, or does the plant drop the flower off on its own, Many, many good comments, and humming birds and bees love them.
We will await your answer. Dick Dildine, Plano, TX, dickdildine@yahoo.com

I am not very familiar with this species, but the plant and its flowers look healthy, so I think it’s fine to leave the flowers on as long as you and the hummingbirds and bees are still enjoying them. The flowers will eventually either drop off, or if conditions are right, produce seed and then drop off by themselves.
