What the heck is my plant doing?

I have this plant in Florida. Have been down in a month it has a huge spike coming out of center

I would leave it and see if it blooms! It may be a flower spike. I don’t know what type of plant it is or I would research it. I don’t think it is coming out of the snake plants.
