What Spacing And Planting Technique For Russian Cypress On Steep Slope?

I am intending to plant Russian Cypress on a downward slope from a road to a driveway; the drive-through driveway comes off the road, then curves back up to the road. The slope is shaped like a cartoon of a smile. It is 40 feet wide and 12 feet top to bottom at its longest point. How far apart should one-gallon plants be spaced? The incline is about 50-60 degrees at its steepest. I intend for the plants to cascade down the slope. Thus, can they be planted perpendicular to the slope or must they be planted straight vertical as they would be if on level ground? The location is at about 1,000 feet elevation in rural western Virginia, zone 7. Thank you.
