I have sacks of seed compost which I want to use up. If I add slow release fertiliser or something will this be useful for growing tomatos/cucumbers in long toms? thank you

Yes, you can add whatever fertilizer you were going to use for the vegetables or add a 10-10-10 slow release fertilizer.
