Just for ease of rotation (https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/vgen/rotating-vegetables.htm [1]), it is best to grow plants from the same families together. Nightshades (https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/vgen/nightshade-vegetable.htm [2]) together, curbits (squash, melons, cucumbers) together, legumes (https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/vgen/what-are-legumes.htm [3]) together and so on. Plants from the same family tend to be affected by the same diseases and pests, so if you have a problem, the next year you can rotate that family to a new bed to move them away from the affected bed. Beyond this, you can take advantage of companion planting. This article will help with that: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/vgen/companion-vegetable-garden.htm [4]
