What Kind of Disease on My Azaleas and Other Shrubs?

The new growth of my azaleas and some of other shrubs is deformed. That is, it is a cluster of very tiny leaves that never develop or bloom and older leaves turn brown and fall off. I’ve never had anything like it in my landscape. It has already killed some things and seems to be spreading.

Sounds like some type of fungus has affected your plants, which would explain the spreading. I would trim them back and treat with a fungicide, such as neem oil.
