what is wrong with this pepper?

The sweet peppers I planted are shaped like UFO’s. Can anyone tell me what we did or didn’t do so we can a bountiful crop next year?

I suspect that the peppers you planted were not what you thought. There are peppers that grow flat and in odd shapes. You may have ended up with a mislabled plant or a stray mis-sorted seed in a packet.
