I live in France and I have been given these plants by my French neighbour. Can you tell me please the name of them I asked him what they were but he didn’t know and although I have posted photographs on Facebook asking if anyone can help it would seem nobody knows what they are – Can you help?

That is cleome, also known as spider flower. It is a wonderful self seeder.

cleome is a great cut flower, but watch out for thorniness and sticky foliage. The may also have a musky odor.
