What is this?

I went out to look at my plants this morning and I have a lime tree in a big pot and there are orange balls on the top of the soil kind of clumped together! Some of them have broken and there is a bright orange liquid inside! These were not there yesterday and I am not sure what they are!!

This is a fungi, it will not harm your plant, but it may stink!

You can leave it and it can actually be beneficial to the soil.
If you choose to remove it, carefully lift it from the soil surface. You can replace any lost soil with some clean potting mix.
