What is the white powdery covering on the trunk of my peach tree?

We planted 4 peach trees (2 types) last Sept. I just noticed this white powder type substance on the trunk of one of our peach trees. We are just starting to learn proper care. Is this normal? What should we do? Apparently we are zone 9a.
