deadheading delphinium

Question

What is the proper way to promote a second flowering of delphiniums? Do I pinch the whole stalk below the last flower shoot to the next healthy leaf or pinch each individual flower bud (seed pod) leaving the stalk? If this is the case, would I pinch below the bud leaving the stem or pinch the whole stem as well?
