Q.What Is The Best Way To Propogate Lilac Bushes In Zone 6?
Is it possible to start more lilacs from some of the new growth on the longer stems? Or do you dig up the smaller shoots that are appearing around the mother plant. Mother plant is approximately 30 years old. Thanks so much for your help!

Yes, you can grow them from cuttings. The new shoots are what should be maintained while some of the old shoots/canes should be removed each year after flowering. These articles should help:
