What is the best soil mixture for silver mounds?

Mine grew tall but then fell over and the middle is bare. How do I get them to remain a mound?

Soil that is very fertile (e.g. amended with compost) or fertilizer use is going to make Silver Mound grow too tall and then flop. It actually looks better in soil of average fertility.
