Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comWhat is leaving a white silky sac or cocoon inside a curled leaf or sometimes covered with another leaf on crepe myrtle? I have found a small white silky sac or cocoon curled up inside some of the leaves on the crepe myrtle. Sometimes whatever this white silky stuff is, there is another, usually dry, leaf attached over it. Any idea what is cleverly doing this, is it harmful to the tree, and if so, how do I eradicate it? Thank you.

This sort of leaf folded cocoon can be found quite often in gardens.
There may be many different caterpillars that use this technique.
This is likely not a harmful caterpillar to your tree, but if you see numerous cocoons, dead or damaged leaves you may want to spray with Neem Oil.
