What Is Happening To My Plumerias???

I had my plumerias in pots in Los Angeles for last 5 years. I moved to San Francisco and recently noticed the tips of my plumeria have holes in them. I am not sure if this is beginning of rot, frost or what. Any ideas would be appreciated!!!

Ants are frequently attracted to the sweet honeydew produced by common plumeria pests and they then gather that liquid honeydew and store it in holes that they make on the tips of plumeria buds, stalks, and stems. Unfortunately, the moisture in these holes leads to sufficient humidity that promotes fungus spore germination and black tip rot. Mites, aphids, or other insects can also bite holes into the stem creating entryways for fungal pathogens to infect the stems and cause rotting. Luis
