Q.What is eating the leaves of my Cecile Brunner rose?
I bought the bush in Reno, NV, and it has lived in a pot all it’s life. I now live in the San Diego, CA area, and after Christmas we moved it to the back yard into a new pot. It flourished as it warmed up, and then it showed up with medium holes in many leaves. I’ve never seen holes in rose leaves! Aphids, yes, but not holes. The new leaves are beautiful and normal, but then they get damaged. The tiny roses are beautiful and normal, too. I have had this rose bush at least 25 years. I haven’t seen any obvious bugs in the plant.

It sure sounds like you are having a problem with beetles. Some beetles have a long snout on them and poke holes in rose leaves to suck the juices out for their food. Try a Neem Oil application on the leaves. When they feed on the leaves, it will dispatch them.
