What is eating holes in the stems of my hosta plant? What should I do to stop this?

There are multiple holes in the bottom sections of the leaves on my hosta plant; the leaves are turning yellow and brown, and then they die.

Sounds like slugs have found your Hosta, though it could be other pests, too.
