Q.What Is Causing The Damage On Our Loquat Tree?

We have a beautiful loquat tree in our backyard. When I was climbing in the tree to pick fruit I noticed that a lot of branches were dead. In some spots there is peeling bark, black marks, and holes. Any idea what this might be and what I can do? Thank you!

It looks like tree borers. They are hard to control because they bore into the tree and do damage internally. These articles should help:
