What grows in the desert

I live in Pahrump, NV and I want to plant azaleas, lilacs and roses. What will grow good here and what won’t (I don’t want any cactus lol)?

You may want to look into xeriscaping. It is the practice of growing in low water environments. While many people think that xeriscaping as all about cacti, it is not. This section has many articles that will help you get started:
