Q.groundcover under a thriving maple tree

Anonymous added on July 29, 2015 | Answered

What groundcover would you suggest under a thriving maple tree? There is a bed of goutweed growing there now, but because the tree sucks all the moisture out of the soil during hot periods, the goutweed shrivels, browns out (ugly) and dies back, unless I want to water it. I want to have something which will stand dry conditions, but be able to cover the contained area with low foliage.
