The site doesn't allow AI and the checker is pretty good at finding it. I can explain it a little differently, though. The cutting needs to dry out and form a callous before it can start to root. If it doesn't, you can get some infections, like an open wound would. So, the safest and most effective way to do this is to cut a notch so it can callous without cutting off nutrient and water flow to the cutting. Once it dries and develops a callous layer, then you can start the rooting process with an already prepared cutting. It is skipping a step more safely.

I'm assuming you mean for cutting down trees. This just means to cut out a wedge in the spot you plan to cut. Otherwise, your blade is going to get stuck in the tree.

Your site says when cutting Plumeria to propagate cut a piece off or “simply cut a deep notch in the spot you plan to make your cut.” That makes no sense. Is that ai?
