What do borers look like on a tree?

Depends on the borer. Some borers leave holes that can allow sap or a gel like substance to ooze from the tree. Others may just riddle the interior of the tree with burrows. In a few instances, the borers wood shavings from boring can stick out from the tree like spikes.
