Q.What Could Be Chewing Vanda Orchid Blooms And Buds Off At Their Stems?

Zone St. Petersburg, Florida, zone 9 | Anonymous added on April 22, 2022 | Answered

A really large vanda orchid had 2 large spikes for the first time in 4 years. The buds were just beginning to open yesterday. I went out this morning to take pictures only to find all the buds and opened flowers on the ground. It appears they have been chewed off. I don”t see anything but was hoping for some insight to this dilemma!

Unfortunately, your photos did not come through. I am unable to say with certainty what has happened.

Rather than something having eaten the blooms, it sounds like they may have aborted. This can happen for several reasons.
