girdling on branches of African mahogany

What causes girdling on branches of African mahogany grown in north Australia? Trees are approximately 12 months old and growing well. On the branches where the girdling has occurred, there are at least 3 to 4 rings around the branches and the leaves of these branches are turning yellow.

There is little to be done for girdled trees or branches.

Continue to care for the tree, which a healthy tree may continue to grow.
