What Can I Use To Break Up The Excess Clay In The Soil Used To Overseed My Lawn?

Neighbour over seeded both front lawns with a soil mix heavily consisting of clay. I have attempted to rake it up and remove it with little success. Is there a commercially available product that I can mix in that will break down the clay so that the underlying lawn does not die? Thanks
